The Sniper Elite series will remain “grounded” in World War II

Throughout its existence, the Sniper Elite series has done one thing very well – letting players snipe World War II Nazis in slow motion. With the upcoming Sniper Elite: Resistance arriving early next year, the team at Rebellion have explained why they plan to remain in this time period for all future entries.

In an interview conducted by VideoGamer, the lead level designer for Sniper Elite: Resistance – Beck Shaw – explained why the series has never moved away from its WWII setting, despite so many other shooters doing so.

According to Shaw, “Sniper Elite, at least for the foreseeable future, will still be grounded in World War 2, I think it gives us a really good challenge. Like, World War 2 was probably the last time where, you know, it was one man and his gun against the Nazis.”

They continued, “Obviously, uh there probably were people that stuck behind enemy lines, but you don't have all these drones flying around, you don't have thermal imaging sensors and all that satellite data modern soldiers might have.”

World War II will forever be an interesting part of history, and so it is welcome to see the team at Rebellion continue to represent and showcase it.
