The Last of Us No Return will reportedly feature a dozen biomes

One of the biggest surprises to come out of the announcement of The Last of Us Part II Remastered was the reveal of its No Return rogue-like mode. While little is known about this new addition, the LinkedIn profile of an ex-Naughty Dog dev seems to suggest that it will be a rather meaty affair.

In a now-deleted Twitter post, it was seemingly revealed via the LinkedIn profile of an ex-Naughty Dog developer that The Last of Us No Return will feature “12 level layouts”. While it is unknown exactly what this means, the wording seems to suggest that a single ‘level layout’ is perhaps equivalent to a Biome in Returnal and other such rogue-like games.

Due to the procedural nature of rogue-likes, these 12 layouts likely breakdown and combine into dozens more different permutations, making for a great deal more content than it initially seems.

Of course, we will have to wait for more information on No Return, but considering just how many different levels there were in the campaign of The Last of Us Part II, taking those locations and turning them into rogue-like experiences makes a great deal of sense.

KitGuru says: The gameplay of The Last of Us Part II is the best in the biz, and so I already know that I will be spending hundreds of hours in the new No Return mode – especially if it has as much content as the LinkedIn profile suggests.
