Spider-Man 2 has 10 different swing settings

As we inch closer and closer to the 20th of October release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the team at Insomniac Games have been going deeper into the many changes and improvements coming with the much-anticipated sequel. One of the core focuses by the studio has been with the game’s accessibility and general customisation of controls – now revealing that swinging alone will have 10 different options.

It was already known that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would include different swinging options, with a ‘Swing Steering assist’ toggle being featured in the sequel. The studio has now detailed this setting further, revealing just how comprehensive it actually is.

Taking to Twitter, Insomniac Games’ James Stevenson explained exactly how this new Swing Steering Assist mode will function, saying “It’s not an accessibility setting. Its the opposite of that.”

He continued, “For instance – there are 10 levels of Swing Assistance on that slider. The game starts at the default (from the previous games!) is Level 10. So it’s a feature we let players turn down to get /less/ assistance if they want.”

While 2018’s Spider-Man was praised for many things, one of the biggest complaints by some stated that swinging across New York felt a bit too automated. As such, it is exciting to see that more dedicated and hardcore players can tweak swinging to such a degree – making for an experience in which you can decide just how much attention needs to be paid while swinging.

It will be interesting to see just how much tweaking this setting will do – and whether this will allow for even more impressive movement should you choose to master it.
