Prior to the launch of the PlayStation VR2, Sony announced and released an adapter allowing the original PSVR1 to work with Sony’s latest and greatest PS5. While current owners of the last-gen headset can still request Sony to ship them the adapter for free, the console maker will soon end the service.
In going to the FAQ section for the PSVR Camera Adapter, Sony has now confirmed that “As of November 26th 2024, or until supplies last, the PlayStation Camera adaptor will no longer be available.”
For context, the PSVR adapter was necessary to use the last-gen headset with the PS5, due to the former’s rather antiquated connection set-up – requiring multiple wires and a dedicated VR camera etc…
Given the multi-generational leap between PSVR1 and 2, any PS5 owner who enjoys VR has likely moved on already.
That said, if you were intending to get a PSVR1 camera adapter at some point, you might want to expedite those plans.
