Sony-backed ‘Deviation Games’ opens a second studio

Back in June of 2021 Sony announced that they were creating a partnership with Deviation Games: a studio formed primarily of ex-Call of Duty devs. While the studio continues to work on a mysterious new AAA IP for Sony, they have also been growing – and have now announced a second studio.

Taking to Twitter, the official Deviation Games account announced that “Deviation Games is expanding! We're excited to announce Deviation Games Canada! Our incredibly talented team is growing everyday. Come join us!”

Offering further details via LinkedIn, the studio said “Deviation Games is THRILLED to announce Deviation Games Canada!! We’ve been working on this initiative for several months now (and keeping it super quiet BTW), so it’s really exciting to finally share this incredible news with all of you!!”

Alongside the announcement of the studio, Deviation Games are also hiring for a large number of positions – 26 in fact currently, running from QA Tester to Senior Game Designer to PS5 Engineer.

While Deviation Games themselves have been quiet regarding what they are working on, it is quite safe to assume due to previous comments, alongside their repertoire, that they are likely to be working on a First-Person Shooter. With Call of Duty only confirmed to be seeing new titles on PlayStation up until 2023, it will be interesting to see what Sony and Deviation Games have been cooking.
