Sonic Generations gets delisted on Xbox ahead of upcoming remaster

Earlier in the year, SEGA officially announced an expanded remaster of the much loved 2011 3D platformer Sonic Generations. With Sonic x Shadow Generations set to launch this October, the publisher appears to be delisting the original game from digital stores.

As discovered by ResetEra user HockeyBird, the Xbox 360 version of Sonic Generations has now been delisted from the digital Xbox store, suggesting that SEGA might be removing it from sale in order to push more units of the upcoming Sonic x Shadow Generations.

That said, there is a chance that this might be related to the closure of the Xbox 360 store, but as stated by HockeyBird, other backwards compatible 360 games are still purchasable – including another Sonic title (Unleashed included).

This wouldn’t be the first time that SEGA has removed an older version of a game following the announcement of its remaster, and so it seems the OG Sonic Generations might soon be removed from additional digital stores.

With the 2011 title consistently going on sale for pretty much pennies, it makes sense for SEGA to try and push as many people to the remaster as possible – even if it is an underhanded tactic.
