Resident Evil Village breaks series sales record

The Resident Evil series is by far Capcom’s biggest, with each entry selling millions upon millions of copies – especially in recent years. That said, the most recent original title in the franchise – Resident Evil Village – has managed to surpass all which came before it, achieving a new sales record for the series.

Making the announcement via a press release, Capcom revealed that “worldwide sales of Resident Evil Village surpassed 10 million units in the three years since its 2021 release, making it the fastest title in the series to hit this milestone.”

According to the publisher , RE: Village has continued to consistently sell copies thanks in part to the expanded release of the game on Apple devices – aiding it in selling approximately 2 million units each year.

It is worth noting that Village still trails behind a couple other entries in the series, at least when it comes to total unit sales – with RE:7 and RE:2 (Remake) currently sitting at 13.3 and 13.9 million units respectively.

With Resident Evil Village already hot on their heels however, it is highly likely not only that Re: Village will become the best-selling Resident Evil game of all time, but could even enter Capcom’s top 3 best-selling games ever. It’ll be interesting to see how many units will have sold by the time RE:9 is announced/released.
