PAYDAY 3 launches in September

It’s been almost 10 years since the release of PAYDAY 2, and while the game has seen a whole host of updates and new content over this time, many fans have been eagerly anticipating the long-promised sequel. First announced all the way back in 2016, PAYDAY 3 has finally gotten a concrete release date: 21st of September 2023.

Announced during the Xbox Games Showcase (and expanded upon via a press release) PAYDAY 3 is arriving on the 21st of September 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC – and will be available day-one on Xbox Game Pass.

Fortunately, for those not subscribed to Microsoft’s service, the game will cost a relatively fair $39.99. That said, future DLC has already been confirmed for the game, “planned to be released regularly after the games release, utilizing Starbreeze’ Games as a Service-model.”

For the uninitiated, PAYDAY 3 “takes players to the city of unlimited possibilities – New York City. The Payday Gang, consisting of Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains return from retirement, and find themselves in the Big Apple after an unknown threat appears, shattering the illusion of peacefully living on the ‘right’ side of the law.”

After so many years, it is exciting to be so close to a brand new PAYDAY experience – especially as this time the console and PC versions will have feature parity thanks to the game’s use of Unreal Engine. Hopefully we get a more in-depth look into all the new mechanics soon enough.
