Overwatch 2 gets limited-time ‘Battle for Olympus’ free-for-all deathmatch

At its heart, Overwatch 2 is a hero shooter with a few core game modes. That said, thanks to seasonal events we see the team at Blizzard flex their creative muscles just a bit by including new and varied limited-time game modes. Starting from tomorrow, players will be able to take part in the Battle for Olympus – “a free-for-all deathmatch mode featuring 7 of your favorite Heroes with reimagined abilities that channel the power of the Gods!”

Going live tomorrow on the 5th of January (and will run until the 19th of the same month), Battle for Olympus is described as “a free-for-all deathmatch mode featuring 7 of your favorite Heroes with reimagined abilities that channel the power of the Gods!”

That is not all however, as Blizzard will be engaging a global leaderboard for this event – “where we’ll be tallying eliminations from each of the Heroes throughout the event! The Hero with the most eliminations will be honored with a statue in Ilios!”

Overwatch has in the past had a decent variety of limited-time events, though over the years we saw many repeats. As such, it is exciting to get a brand new game mode. Hopefully it is as fun as it sounds (and also comes with a character balance patch). We won’t have to wait long to find out.
