Nintendo Switch Online update adds Street Fighter II, Kid Chameleon and more

The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription service was met with some controversy when it was announced, due in part to the fact that the added perk of N64 and SEGA Mega Drive games was lacklustre. Fortunately, Nintendo continues to add new titles (and even new systems) on a semi-regular basis, with the latest update bringing 4 additional SEGA Mega Drive games to NSO.

Available right now, the Nintendo Switch Online service has been updated to include 4 new SEGA Mega Drive games, namely:

  • STREET FIGHTER II : SPECIAL CHAMPION EDITION
  • Pulseman
  • Kid Chameleon
  • Flicky

The headlining addition here is undoubtedly Street Fighter II, with it being one of the best-selling fighting games of all time (only behind Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) and is by far the highest grossing game in the genre, bringing in over $17 Billion when adjusted for inflation – undoubtedly aided by its success in the arcades.

In total, you can now play 40 Mega Drive games via NSO, including the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog 2; Streets of Rage 2; Ecco the Dolphin; Ristar; ToeJam & Earl; Earthworm Jim and Virtua Fighter 2 – to name a few.

That said, there are still a whole host of notable omissions including Sonic 2 and 3; The Revenge of Shinobi; MicroMachines; Ghouls ‘n Ghosts and Roadrash, among others. Hopefully we get to see some of these titles find their way onto the service at some point in the future.
