Nintendo seems to be gearing up for a Switch 2

Ever since the Nintendo Switch first released back in 2017, there have persisted rumours claiming a more powerful successor to be on its way. While Nintendo eventually released the Switch OLED Version, new financial figures seem to suggest a true Switch 2 might be coming soon.

As reported by ResetEra member ‘Neoxon’ and ‘fwd-bwd’ of FamiBoards, Nintendo’s latest financial figures show that the company is spending significantly more on raw materials and supplies this year when compared to the previous several years.

With 66,517 million yen (roughly £400 million) spent in 2022, Nintendo has splashed out more than double the amount for raw materials this year when compared to 2019, the year in which the Nintendo Switch Lite and the refreshed Switch both released.

With such a large increase in costs, it is safe to assume that Nintendo is working on some form of new hardware, and with the Switch recently entering its 6th year on the market, it’s a logical conclusion to make. Of course, we will have to wait and see, but the stars seem to finally be aligning for new Nintendo hardware.
