New STALKER 2 update brings over 1700 bug fixes / improvements

STALKER 2 released last year, following a highly stressful and troubled development as a result of the invasion of Ukraine by Vladimir Putin. Despite receiving high praise and selling well, the game did suffer from a plethora of issues. Fortunately, in their continuing efforts to improve the title, GSC Game World have now announced and released patch 1.2 – bringing over 1700 improvements and fixes.

Releasing the patch notes on their site, the team at GSC Game World officially detailed update 1.2, writing “Stalkers! We are ready to present you Patch 1.2 A massive one, with over 1700+ improvements and fixes to all aspects of the game: balance, locations, quests, blockers, crashes, performance, more A-Life 2.0 fixes, you name it.”

Of course, the full list of changes and additions are far too many to list here, however some of the more notable improvements include:

  • Fixed NPC shooting accuracy
  • Reconfigured bullet dispersion accuracy for all distances for all weapons
  • Improved Stealth
  • Rebalanced pistols and silencer attachments
  • Added ability to trade with additional NPCs at Hubs
  • Player's flashlight now casts shadows on objects
  • Improved transitions from cutscene to game
  • Added parkour animation from crouch state
  • Improved facial animations for idle NPCs
  • Improved audio environment in 10+ locations and regions

As mentioned, the full list of changes and fixes is highly exhaustive, but in essence, patch 1.2 seems to bring with it countless bug fixes, performance improvements, optimisations and more.

With such a large variety of tweaks, fixes and changes, hopefully the team at GSC Game World can now shift their focus to offering new and impactful post-launch content for STALKER 2.
