Microsoft announces pizza-scented TMNT Xbox controllers

Microsoft’s first-party controller customisability has shined in recent generations, with players being able to control the colours of almost all aspects of the accessory. Likewise, Microsoft-designed custom controllers have never shied away from being flashy. Even so, their newest controllers are some of the oddest custom jobs yet.

Making the announcement via the official Xbox Wire blog, Josh Stein – Xbox’s Social Media and ‘Chief TMNT In-House Expert’ – said “In celebration of the [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem] movie’s August 2023 release, we are giving away a limited number of exclusive ooze green, pizza-scented Xbox Wireless Controllers that pair perfectly with game content that immerses fans in the Turtles’ latest adventures.”

Describing the controller’s unique traits, Stein continued, “satisfy your hunger for kicking butt with the world’s first ever pizza-scented controller! Designed to deliver the smell of the Turtles’ beloved meal to your game time, these exclusive Xbox Wireless Controllers come with a built-in scent diffuser shaped like a slice of delicious New York ‘za. The controller comes in four variations, each representing the signature colors, weapons, and personality of a Turtle brother: Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo.”

Perhaps somewhat unsurprisingly, you won’t be able to purchase these controllers outright. Instead, you’ll have to enter a sweepstakes to potentially win one, with the full set of details surrounding the specifics being available HERE.

Microsoft has made a bunch of interesting controllers in the past. Even so, this latest pizza scented peripheral is one of the most out-there – perhaps second only to the furry Sonic-themed controllers.
