Konami improves Silent Hill 2 face model ahead of launch

After going a decade without any new releases, Konami has finally returned to the Silent Hill franchise, with their first major title being the upcoming remake of the classic Silent Hill 2. Unfortunately, much of the footage shared so far has been criticised by fans, ranging from issues of polish to design decisions and more. Luckily, one glaring complaint has been fixed ahead of the game’s presumed 2024 release.

As shared by Reddit user ‘Trem45’, Konami recently updated the SteamDB page for Silent Hill 2’s remake, adding new photos which show off what appears to be an updated face model for the game’s protagonist James Sunderland.

As with most games from the era, remakes need to take certain creative liberties, especially when it comes to the design of characters – adding complexity to the models as well as additional details.

As such, while both the old and new face models are equally as valid, many fans have received the updated design positively; claiming it to be closer to the PS2 original.

While the verdict is still out on whether Silent Hill 2 will be a good remake or not, at the very least it seems as though Konami are being rather receptive to the game’s pre-release feedback.
