Josef Fares confirms his next project will be revealed at The Game Awards

The 2024 Game Awards is just a few short days away, and as such, we have started to see developers tease their involvement in the upcoming event. One studio which is quite familiar with the TGAs is Hazelight Studios – with founder Josef Fares confirming the team’s next game will be present at the upcoming show.

Releasing a behind the scenes look at their workplace to Twitter, Hazelight founder Josef Fares took viewers on a tour around their Stockholm-based game dev studio – all the while teasing their as-of-yet unannounced game.

Right near the end of the tour, Fares received a phone call from none other than Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley, confirming that the studio’s next project (which leakers have revealed is called Split Fiction) will be shown off at the show on the 12th of December, saying:

Josef Fares Game Awards

“What’s up Geoff? Ahh, it’s time for fuck the Oscars huh? I’m fucking with you, of course I’ll see you at The Game Awards. We’re gonna show some great gameplay there, let me tell you that.”

Of course, this humorous exchange is in reference to Fares’ first appearance at The Game Awards back in 2017, where he compared the show to the Oscars in what became a viral moment.

Since then, Geoff and Fares seem to be on close terms, and so it will be interesting to see what Hazelight has planned for the event.
