IO Interactive opens up 5th studio

Ever since they obtained independence from Square Enix, IO Interactive have been making a lot of big moves and opening a bunch of new studios across the world. Following the launch of IOI Istanbul just a few months ago, IO Interactive has now announced its 5th studio.

Making the announcement on their website, Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive said “We are extremely proud and excited to open our next studio in Brighton, where we see enormous potential to expand our incredible team and attract the very best talent from the exciting UK development scene. We’re eager to expand our operations to new shores and believe that IOI Brighton is an extremely appealing destination for developers of all crafts.“

Despite only just being announced, IOI confirmed that the core team for the Brighton studio are already in place, with them being tasked with development on the 007 James Bond.

All in all, IOI’s 5 studios are now working on the in-development titles together, with all the teams said to be making “significant contributions to the ambitious development and publishing efforts on all games currently in active development: Project 007, Project Fantasy and HITMAN.”

IOI’s trajectory in recent years has been rather inspiring to see, with the studio starting its latest Hitman trilogy under the watchful eye of Square Enix – and ending it as an independent company with 5 studios and a whole host of new projects and potential. It will be interesting to watch IOI over the next few years.
