Hollow Knight: Silksong WON’T be at Gamescom ONL

For years now, pretty much every video games showcase has been met with hopes from Hollow Knight fans that the long awaited sequel – Silksong – could get an official release date announcement. In a bittersweet move, Geoff Keighley has confirmed that Silksong won’t be at the upcoming Gamescom Opening Night Live.

Ahead of the upcoming ONL showcase (set to take place on the 20th of August), the show’s creator Geoff Keighley took to Twitter to confirm that Hollow Knight Silksong won’t be present at the event, saying:

“Just to get this out of the way, no Silksong on Tuesday at ONL. @TeamCherryGames is still cooking.”

While somewhat disappointing to hear, it is nice at the very least to have gotten a heads-up on its current status. Fortunately, ONL looks to still be a pretty good show, with some of the confirmed games set to appear including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6; Monster Hunter Wilds; MARVEL Rivals; Dune Awakening; Indiana Jones and the Great Circle; and Sid Meier's Civilization VII.

The last we heard from Silksong was all the way back in June 2022, when it was confirmed that the game would be a day-one Game Pass addition – and was supposed to release within a year’s time.

Of course, this did not pan out, with the game currently featuring no new timeline. That said, with the hype and expectations surrounding Hollow Knight Silksong, Team Cherry should continue to take all the time they need.
