HITMAN World of Assassination announced for PSVR2

Despite excellent hardware, Sony’s PlayStation VR2 headset has received relatively little support from the console manufacturer itself, relying on its partners to keep the headset afloat. Fortunately, the headset still sees plenty of 3rd party support – with the much loved HITMAN World of Assassination now announced to be coming to PSVR2.

As revealed during the most recent State of Play, IO Interactive officially announced that the HITMAN World of Assassination Trilogy is coming to PSVR2 this December, saying:

“The PlayStation VR2 version of HITMAN World of Assassination will feature brand-new VR features including dual-wielding, full ambidexterity, room-scale implementation, as well as general improved VR experience through new intuitive controls and gameplay mechanics.”

It is worth noting that the HITMAN trilogy has been ported to VR multiple times in the past to varying levels of success. The game was first brought to the original PSVR, which was mostly held back by the hardware itself. Since then, HITMAN VR has also come to the Quest 3 as well as PCVR in general – though again, players noted a degree of jank with the overall experience.

Given the fact that PSVR2 features a swath of interesting and unique features, including advanced haptics and adaptive triggers, hopefully the upcoming release is its best iteration yet. We won’t have to wait long to find out.

HITMAN World of Assassination for PSVR2 will cost £8.99 for those who already own the base game.

KitGuru says: What did you think of the State of Play? Does Sony need to support the PSVR2 more directly? What other 3rd party game would you like to see ported to VR? Let us know down below.
