Blasphemous is a hardcore 2D souls-like metroidvania featuring gorgeous pixel art and a great soundtrack. Released back in 2019, the game has seen plenty of success, spawning a sequel 4 years later to further positivity. Alongside the recent announcement that the original Blasphemous has sold over 5 million copies, studio ‘The Game Kitchen’ have unveiled a new ‘Martyrs’ collector’s edition.
Making the announcement via a press release, Blasphemous publisher Team17 officially unveiled a new edition of 2019’s hit 2D souls-like. Dubbed the ‘Martyr’s Edition’ this physical release will arrive later this year in October (with pre-orders going live this month) for the relatively low cost of £44.99.
Only being printed for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, this upcoming edition will of course include a disc / cartridge of Blasphemous with “all DLC and content updates included on medium.”
Alongside this however, fans will be able to get their hands on:
- A thank you letter from the devs
- 48-page visual compendium including unreleased artwork
- A ‘premium’ art print
- Special Effect foil sleeve and box
- Digital OST (38 tracks)
- Traditional video game manual
Being a relatively small indie game from 2019, players can easily purchase Blasphemous digitally for far less (currently on sale for just over £6 on Steam). This upcoming release however is of course for the fans, and so hopefully they find value in all of the various items being included.
