Hades 2 officially launches in Early Access

The full release for Hades put SuperGiant Games on the map back in 2020, winning multiple BAFTAs, Game Awards and more. Following the surprise announcement of a sequel back in late 2022, Hades 2 has now officially entered Early Access.

It was already known that Hades 2 would launch in Early Access this year, with the team sharing back in September of last year that the EA period would arrive some time in Q2 of 2024.

That said, with very little heads-up, SuperGiant Games have now released Hades 2 onto the world, saying “After more than three years in development, our first-ever sequel is now available in Early Access!!.”

Despite being Early Access, the game already features “more environments, foes, and fully-voiced characters than the full version of the original game” – with more on the way.

Explaining why they chose to go the Early Access route, the team added “we designed Hades II for Early Access from the ground up, and look forward to hearing your feedback about all that we've built so far, and integrating that feedback into our plans for the rest of production! This is a game with many interconnected parts, and your feedback helps us ensure everything from the balance to the narrative are working as well as possible.”

While no release date has been given for the game’s full launch, the team did state that they plan to “be in Early Access at least through the end of 2024 in order to build out the remaining content we have planned.”

Hades is a truly excellent rogue-like with addictive gameplay and a surprisingly compelling story. Hopefully Hades 2 winds up being even better.
