Fortnite appears to be getting a Rock Band styled music mode

Epic Games’ metaverse ambitions for Fortnite have slowly but surely been coming to fruition, with the studio turning what was once a simple battle royale game into a platform in-and-of-itself. The next step in Epic’s plan will seemingly see the game add a Rock Band / Guitar Hero styled music mode.

As shared by known Fortnite leaker HYPEX, the BR game is set to get a rhythm mode known as “Festival” which will supposedly allow you (and your friends) to build your own band in-game, consisting of vocals, guitars, drums and bass. Essentially it will be quite similar to the likes of Rock Band.

This makes a great deal of sense as, for the uninitiated, the Rock Band and Guitar Hero franchises were developed by Harmonix – who were then acquired by Epic Games in 2021. Additionally, all of the unofficially confirmed songs set to be introduced in this new Festival mode are available in Rock Band, meaning music license legalese shouldn’t be an issue. The songs in question are:

  • Lady Gaga – Pokerface
  • Linkin Park – Numb
  • Toto – Africa
  • Imagine Dragons – Thunder
  • Alice Cooper – Poison
  • Fortnite Music Packs

While we will have to wait for an official announcement, this new mode is said to be coming in just a few short weeks on the 9th of December, meaning we should be getting official word on the Festival mode soon. Perhaps at The Game Awards?
