Though Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is only midway through its first Season of post-launch content, details surrounding future COD entries have already begun to leak. While we already know some of what to expect from next year’s Call of Duty, the first details on the following entry in 2026 have now leaked – including the return of wall running.
As shared by known leaker TheGhostOfHope, following 2025’s Call of Duty – which is said to be a sequel to Black Ops 2 – Infinity Ward will be helming development on 2026’s COD title.
According to the leak, this will be another entry in the Modern Warfare series, and as such, will feature some of the maps from the original 2011 MW3 (similar to what we saw with the MW2 maps in 2023’s MWIII), though it will also include original maps at launch – unlike MWIII.
Finally, the biggest revelation is the fact that not only will the well-received omnimovement mechanic make a return following its debut in Black Ops 6, but the 2026 title will also see the revival of wall running for the first time since 2016’s Infinite Warfare.
While many COD players bemoan the series’ ‘future era’ which began with Advanced Warfare in 2014 and ended with the aforementioned Infinite Warfare, this period did bring with it a great deal of experimentation and innovation.
As such, it will be interesting to see how Infinity Ward chooses to interpret these somewhat-controversial mechanics.
