Exoprimal will not include cross-platform party support at launch

In recent months Capcom have been pushing Exoprimal hard, with the upcoming co-op dinosaur shooter set to arrive later this week. Ahead of its launch, the publisher has revealed that unfortunately Exoprimal will not feature cross-platform party support – at least not at the beginning.

Taking to Twitter, the official Exoprimal account made the announcement, saying “Hello Exofighters, We’ve seen the #Exoprimal community discussions happening regarding the ability to create parties between players on different platforms, and would like to clarify the game’s feature set around this at launch.”

They continued, “On day 1, Exoprimal will support cross-platform matchmaking, but party creation will be specific to each platform ecosystem, as seen below in no particular order:

  • Group 1: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows
  • Group 2: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5
  • Group 3: Steam”

While certainty disappointing – especially as the game supports cross-play with randoms – the team did state that “We are investigating ways to allow you to play together with your friends on other platforms, but this may take some time. On top of that, we’ll soon be sharing the full Title Update roadmap with you!”

While cross platform play nowadays seems like such a standard, it was only a few years ago when the very first games started to support the functionality. Though it is disappointing to see that there will not be any cross-platform party support at launch, at least it will arrive eventually – hopefully sooner rather than later.
