EVO 2024 line-up announced – including the return of SF3: Third Strike

EVO is one of the biggest competitive gaming tournaments in the industry, dating all the way back to 1996 and offering an arena where the biggest and best fighting game champions can clash. Back in September of last year, the event coordinator announced that more details on 2024’s EVO would be shared in January. Though a little later than expected, we now have our full EVO 2024 line-up.

Taking place between the 19th and 21st of July at the Las Vegas Convention Centre West Hall, EVO 2024’s full line-up of 8 included titles have been announced:

  • Street Fighter 6
  • Mortal Kombat 1
  • Tekken 8
  • Guilty Gear Strive
  • Granblue Versus Rising
  • Under Night In-Birth [Sys:Celes]
  • The King of Fighters XV
  • Street Fighter 3: Third Strike

While many of the announced games do not come a surprise – especially the likes of the recently released Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 – the return of Street Fighter 3: Third Strike is notable as it was almost 20 years ago in which the now-iconic EVO Moment #37 took place.

Despite being decades removed from 2004’s tournament, EVO Moment #37 (aka the Diago Parry) remains one of the most iconic matches in the history of the tournament – and so with the return of Street Fighter 3: Third Strike in 2024, it will be interesting to see whether any players will attempt to pay homage to the moment.

KitGuru says: What do you think of 2024’s EVO line-up? Are you excited for the return of Third Strike? What is the most iconic moment in EVO’s history in your opinion? Let us know down below.
