Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero gets proper local multiplayer in latest update

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is the latest and greatest anime fighter from Bandai Namco set in the Dragon Ball universe. While the long awaited return of the Budokai series has proven to be worth it – becoming the fastest selling game in the franchise – the game is not perfect, with one of the biggest omissions being a lack of proper local multiplayer. Fortunately, this has now been added.

The full patch notes for the latest update to Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero can be found HERE, but easily the biggest addition is new inclusion of local PvP multiplayer across all available stages.

For context, while Sparking Zero did already feature local play, it was limited to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber stage, with Bandai Namco claiming at the time that this was due to performance concerns.

Dragon Ball Multiplayer

Considering the fact that one of the patch notes states that they have “improved performance and ease of use” across the game, it perhaps makes some sense as to why the feature is being expanded now, rather than at launch.

That said, given just how much of a legacy the Budokai games have when it comes to local multiplayer, the prior omission was odd and unfortunate to see. Of course, it’s always better late than never.
