After a decade of waiting, the successor to Dragon Age: Inquisition has arrived in the form of DA: The Veilguard. Unlike Inquisition however, The Veilguard won’t be getting any post-launch DLC, with Bioware instead moving straight on to the next Mass Effect.
In an interview conducted by Rolling Stone, John Epler – the creative director at Bioware – confirmed that there are no plans to produce any DLC for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, claiming that their “full attention has now shifted entirely to the next Mass Effect.”
As mentioned, 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition received quite a few post-launch content packs, with 6 add-ons releasing over the course of 2015.
Of course, while Dragon Age remains a popular series for both Bioware and EA, the teams are clearly putting a lot of focus on the next Mass Effect – especially as the last original release in the series was 2017’s much maligned Andromeda.
With AAA video games taking longer and longer to develop, it perhaps makes the most sense that Bioware would want to shift their attention as soon as possible to Mass Effect 5 – or whatever it ends up being called.
