DON’T NOD’s action-RPG ‘Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden’ delayed to 2024

DON’T NOD may be known best for having created the much-loved Life is Strange series, but for the past few years the studio has branched out, developing a bunch of new IPs including Twin Mirror, Vampyr and most recently ‘Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden’. Announced back in 2022, the action RPG was poised to release in just a few months on the 7th of November. Now, the team have announced the title’s delay to 2024.

Making the announcement via a press release (and Twitter), the team at DON’T NOD revealed that Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden has been pushed back by a few months, saying:

“With so many unforgettable games in 2023, it's important that each of them shines brightly. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is no exception. Though finished and set for release, we want Red and Antea's story to get the spotlight it deserves. As a result, with our publisher Focus Entertainment, we took the decision to postpone its release on PCs & Consoles to February 13, 2024. A perfect date for an epic love story! Thank you for your patience, DON'T NOD & FOCUS ENTERTAINMENT.”

It is interesting to see that in this particular instance, the delay was seemingly done purely as a result of 2023’s busy schedule – in particular the overabundance of games coming out in October/November. This isn’t the first game to be pushed out of 2023 for this very reason, but with DON’T NOD having struggled to find an identity in the wake of their move away from the Life is Strange series, hopefully this delay ends up benefiting both the studio and fans alike. Banishers: Ghost of New Eden is described as follows:

“New Eden, 1695. Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith are lovers and Banishers, ghost-hunters who vowed to protect the living from the threat of lingering ghosts and specters. Following a disastrous last mission, Antea is fatally wounded, becoming one of the spirits she loathes. In the haunted wilds of North America, the couple desperately searches for a way to liberate Antea from her new plight.”
