Death Stranding on Xbox features game-breaking bug

Celebrating the 5th anniversary of Hideo Kojima’s latest original IP Death Stranding, 505 Games and Kojima Productions announced and released the previously-PlayStation exclusive onto Xbox for all to enjoy. Unfortunately, Death Stranding currently suffers from a major game-breaking bug on Microsoft’s systems – though the teams are currently working on a fix.

Taking to Twitter, the official 505 Games support page shared the following: “We are aware of an issue that is affecting save functionality in DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S CUT on Xbox. While we work on resolving this, please do not use suspend/Quick Resume, and be sure to save your game manually before closing it. This will ensure progression is not lost.”

As stated in the tweet, the issue arises from the Xbox’s ‘Quick Resume’ feature which allows you to suspend current games in limbo while you play other titles – supposedly allowing you to hot-swap between games without needing to manually save.

As has been the case in the past though, the feature isn’t perfect, and seems to impact Death Stranding particularly badly.

If you have been playing Death Stranding on Xbox – or were planning to pick it up – make sure to keep this in mind. Hopefully the patch is released sooner rather than later.
