Cyberpunk Edgerunners update goes live with hundreds of changes and additions

Many fans still feel burned by the broken launch of Cyberpunk 2077 almost 3 years ago now. Fortunately, CDPR have not yet given up on the game, with patch 1.6 – the Edgerunners update – now going live, adding new weapons, a transmog system, cross progression and so much more.

As part of CD Projekt RED’s latest Night City Wire stream, which saw the developer officially unveil Cyberpunk 2077’s first expansion ‘Phantom Liberty’, the Polish developer announced and subsequently released patch 1.6 – aka the Edgerunners update. While this update does offer some tie-ins to the upcoming Edgerunners Netflix anime, patch 1.6 comes with a whole host of major and minor improvements, including but not limited to:

  • A wardrobe system which “allows you to change the appearance of your outfit without changing your armor stats”
  • 3 New Gigs
  • 6 new firearms
  • 5 new melee weapons
  • Cross-progression
  • You can now play a brand new mini game using arcade machines located in Night City
  • You can now take photos of Nibbles the cat in Photo Mode
  • Cyberpunk: Edgerunners content
  • Added an option to modify V's face and body at Ripperdoc clinics
  • If NPCs were staggered or knocked down while shooting, they will now continue to shoot aimlessly.
  • Added new poison perks while rebalancing others
  • Added more secrets in Night City to be discovered by players
  • Added item preview so that it's possible to see an item on V before you buy it
  • Neon rims on bikes now come in different colours.
  • Added new hairstyles in Character Creation.
  • Improvements in Dynamic Resolution Scaling
  • [Xbox Series S] Added a new Performance Mode

These are but a few of the hundreds of changes, additions, bug fixes and tweaks available with patch 1.6 which is live right now.

Last but certainly not least, PC users will be able to benefit from better mod support thanks to new official modding tools. While not as comprehensive as Bethesda’s creation kit for example, it will still allow for greater mod integration, meaning that from this point forth, mods should get more complex, while also being easier to develop and install.

It has been a long time coming, but patch 1.6 brings some of the most requested fan features into the game, making Cyberpunk 2077 feel much more complete as a package. With CDPR promising more major changes coming in the future, it seems as though Cyberpunk 2077 is getting its second wind.
