Concord’s beta will be available to all PS Plus members

Concord is the latest major gamble from Sony Interactive Entertainment, with the upcoming live-service Hero Shooter having a lot to prove in a market which isn’t exactly begging for more games in the genre. Perhaps as a way to entice more players to try out the upcoming game, Sony has now announced that the impending Concord Beta will be available for all PS Plus members – not just those who pre-ordered the title.

Making the announcement on the PlayStation Blog, Alice Labrecque – the Communications Manager at Firewalk Studios – said:

“Before we head into both our Early Access and Open Beta weekends, we wanted to share some more important information with you like, when you can pre-download, when the servers go live, some goodies you can earn from participating, and more.”

Set to go live on the 12th of June until the 14th, the closed Concord beta was originally announced to be limited only to those who pre-ordered the title (though would include bonus beta codes to give away to friends etc…)

That said, the team have now revealed that all PS Plus players are privy to accessing the beta, saying: “we’re excited that PlayStation Plus is also inviting all members to participate in the Beta Early Access weekend. Just look for the option to download and play the beta when you boot up your PS5.”

Even if you do not have PS Plus however, you’ll still get a chance to try the game out, as an open beta will arrive shortly after – beginning on the 18th of July and concluding on the 21st.

While not a full-priced game, Concord still has an uphill battle to prove itself to wary players. As such, it makes a great deal of sense that Sony would want as many people playing the beta as possible. It’ll be interesting to see what the public think of Concord when the beta goes live later today.
