Comedic FPS High on Life to get animated adaptation

Back in 2022, High on Life released to a solid reaction from players, with the comedy-focused first person shooter resonating with some, but not others. Despite the controversy surrounding one of the game’s ex-creators Justin Roiland, High on Life appears to have made enough of a splash to warrant an animated adaptation.

As reported by Deadline, JB Smoove of Curb Your Enthusiasm fame is set to produce an animated adaptation of High on Life, with the actor also rumoured to be cast in the show itself (presumably reprising his role from the game).

Developed by Squanch Games (Accounting++ and Trover Saves the Universe), High on Life is a unique first-person shooter with metroidvania elements which puts a great deal of emphasis on wacky and improvisational-styled comedy.

Released back in 2022, the game was pretty positively received, especially by players (though critical reception was slightly harsher). Additionally, High on Life has been played by over 8 million people, thanks in part to a day-one Game Pass release.

With how close the style of comedy is to the likes of Rick and Morty, there is a strong chance that High on Life could be a successful multi-media franchise – even without the voice talents of Roiland.
