Bulletstorm VR officially announced

Meta recently held its annual Quest Gaming Showcase, focused on announcing VR titles for its Meta Quest platform. Over a dozen games were revealed, but perhaps the most surprising announcement was the fact that 2011’s bombastic FPS Bulletstorm is coming to VR.

Bulletstorm first launched in 2011 as an answer to the overabundance of modern military first-person shooters which were being released at the time. While an FPS at heart, the game offered a unique twist on the formula: rewarding players based on how wild and creative their kills are.

Bringing this approach into VR is exciting as it will allow players to interact with and use all of the mechanics in an even more freeing way – the Energy Leash especially. For those who did not play the original game, Bulletstorm has you:

“Step into the boots of Grayson Hunt after a crash landing on an abandoned resort planet forces him to make a hard choice: survival or revenge. An exiled member of the elite assassin group Dead Echo, Grayson’s blind desire for vengeance finds his crew stranded on Stygia where he can finally confront the commander behind his betrayal—or get his team off the planet alive.”

Though no release date nor a release window was provided, the team at PeopleCanFly have confirmed that unlike PowerWash Simulator VR, the game is set to come to all VR platforms: Meta Quest, PCVR and PlayStation VR2.

KitGuru says: What did you think of Meta’s Gaming Showcase? Have you played Bulletstorm before? What other flat panel games would you like to see brought over to VR? Let us know down below.
