Bandai Namco launches official video game OST YouTube channel

The music industry is notorious for having rather harsh copyright laws with a relatively recent example seeing Nintendo forcefully remove over 1000 songs from YouTube in 2022. Fortunately not every company takes this approach as we saw with Square Enix uploading over 5500 songs to its YouTube channel last year. Now, Bandai Namco is doing the same, bringing its library of music to YouTube for free.

As discovered by ResetEra user ‘–R’ Bandai Namco have opened up a new YouTube channel called ‘Bandai Namco Game Music’ which as of right now includes more than 1000 songs from across a whole host of franchises. Just some of the OSTs uploaded so far include:

  • Code Vein
  • Dark Souls
  • Elden Ring
  • Little Nightmares
  • Soul Calibur
  • Tales of Arise
  • Tekken
  • The Dark Pictures Anthology

The full 1000+ songs were dropped onto the channel at the same time, and so it is currently unknown when/if more music will be added. Regardless, the list of soundtracks available right now is already more than enough to sink your teeth into.

Video game soundtracks are just as important to the gaming experience as the actual gameplay itself, and so it is exciting and encouraging to see more publishers making their music available to all for free. Hopefully Nintendo follows suit.
