Alan Wake and Jack Skellington are coming to Fortnite

As we inch our way closer to Halloween, many live service titles in particular are prepping their games for thematically-linked horror-based events. Being one of the biggest games in the space, Fortnite is of course getting in on the action, with a number of horror icons set to drop into the battle royale – including Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake.

As reported by Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey, for the 2023 edition of the game’s Fortnitemares event, players will be able to get their hands on over half a dozen or so Halloween-related skins. While some of these are original creations, three in particular will be adding to the ever-growing list of crossover content:

  • Alan Wake (from Alan Wake)
  • Jack Skellington (from The Nightmare Before Christmas)
  • Michael Myers (from the Halloween film franchise)

Based on additional leaks by Shiina, it seems as though Jack Skellington will have an alternate costume (his Christmas outfit) and Michael Myers will be able to play his iconic theme on a keyboard via an emote.

Of course, the inclusion of Alan Wake comes just in time for the release of the game’s sequel, with Alan Wake II set to arrive on the 27th of October. Considering the fact that Alan Wake II is an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC, it will be curious to see whether Epic Games does anything in particular to synergise these two releases – perhaps by giving all pre-orders for Alan Wake II the skin in Fortnite? We will have to wait for official word from Epic Games before jumping to conclusions, but it will be interesting nonetheless to see what the team have planned fully for this year’s Fortnitemares.
