Ace Combat 7 celebrates 2nd anniversary with free update

For those who enjoy arcade-style flight combat games, the Ace Combat series is well known and enjoyed. Two years after the launch of the most recent entry, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown has officially sold over 2.5 million copies. In celebration of this and the title’s 2nd anniversary, the game is receiving a free update adding new content.

Released on the 18th of January 2019, Ace Combat 7 received consistent and high praise from both critics and fans alike thanks to a “fantastic campaign mode,” a great soundtrack and a VR mode which offered a new and immersive way to experience the thrill of the flight.

This newest entry appears to have resonated with players, as Ace Combat 7 has officially sold over 2.5 million copies, which makes it one of the better selling entries in the long-running franchise.

In celebration of this milestone achievement and the game’s second anniversary, as translated by Gematsu, Bandai Namco has announced that tomorrow, the 19th of January, fans can expect to see an update for Ace Combat 7 which adds a number of new items, namely almost two-dozen skins and emblems which can be used to customise the many jets available for use in-game.

While perhaps not the most exciting update in the world, it is encouraging nonetheless to see Bandai Namco continuing to support a relatively niche genre and recognising the importance and contributions of its fans.
