Due to various leaks, we've known quite a bit about Grand Theft Auto 6 for years already. At one point, a slew of game files had leaked and while Take-Two did its best to contain it, those files are still floating around today. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that Take-Two has used DMCA takedown notices to put a stop to mods ‘bringing GTA 6 to GTA 5'.
A modder by the name of Dark Space posted a video to YouTube this year, showcasing the GTA 6 map within GTA 5. The mod was for FiveM, which is already a heavily modified version of GTA 5. Following the copyright strike, the mod creator also removed all download links to avoid any further legal issues.
As spotted by Insider Gaming, Dark Space also issued a statement on X, saying: “Take Two interactive has copyright claimed and removed my video on the GTA 6 map I made in GTA 5. I expected something like this could happen. I am surprised they didn’t bother emailing me. I would have taken it down if asked.”
It is unclear how many people downloaded this mod prior to the copyright strike, but considering GTA 6 is due to release later this year, there is just no way Take-Two was going to let a mod like this slide.

KitGuru Says: We've seen Take-Two issuing Cease & Desist orders against mod creators for years. Specifically, the company seems to take great issue with any mod that brings content from one game into another. It is the same reason the Red Dead Restoration Project never made it past the announcement stage.
