God of War: Ragnarök is a GOTY contender

Sony Santa Monica had a GOTY hit on its hands with God of War (2018), now four years later, it looks like the team will repeat that success. The embargo has now lifted on God of War: Ragnarök reviews, painting a vastly positive outlook for the game, which launches next week.

Sony sent out a lot of review keys for God of War: Ragnarök and that is reflected in the number of reviews that went live this afternoon. Right now, the game is currently sitting at a 94 overall rating on both Metacritic and Open Critic, based on more than 60 published reviews so far.

Depending on how many more reviews come out with higher or lower scores, God of War: Ragnarök could potentially catch up to Elden Ring, which has cemented its position with a 96 overall rating.

God of War: Ragnarök is due to release on PS4 and PS5 on the 9th of November. While the prequel is available on PC, there has been no PC version announced for Ragnarok at this time.
