John Wick Hex release date confirmed, will be a strategy game

John Wick Hex is a strategy game based on the fast-paced film franchise starring Keanu Reeves. The game is due to be released on the Epic Games store on the 8th October and features A-list video game voice actor Troy Baker.

Keanu Reeves won’t be featuring in the game. However, Ian McShane and Lance Reddick will voice-over their characters from the movie, with Troy Baker playing villain Hex. The game's creator, Mike Bithell, published a tweet on Twitter to fans and Troy Baker thanking them for their support.

Fans of the John Wick series will be surprised to hear the game is not a first-person shooter. In an unexpected turn of events, the game will be released as a strategy-based experience, with a similar feel to games like XCOM and such like. You can get a feel for the gameplay from the Release Date Trailer:

Bithell Games, the game developers, announced that the John Wick prequel will be out on the 8th October and furthermore, they will be taking part in a panel discussing the making of the game at New York Comic Con, with creator Mike Bithell and other “special guests” taking part.

Eurogamers’ Emma Kent had the chance to preview John Wick Hex at E3 and praised its authentic yet unique take on the franchise saying: ‘I was incredibly impressed with John Wick Hex: aside from it feeling surprisingly fluid, the concept of ‘pressing pause' to see Wick's tactical decision-making from moment-to-moment is an intriguing premise that really works.'

John Wick Hex will be available exclusively to the Epic Games Store from the 8th October and can be pre-purchased now for £15.99.

KitGuru says: This time of the year is usually filled with game releases ready for Christmas. Are you a fan of the John Wick series and looking forward to this new strategy-based game from Bithell Games?
