Stellar Data Recovery Technician (2023) Review

The Technician version of Stellar's Data Recovery software brings with it support for recovering data from RAID 0, 5, 6 and nested RAID 10, 50 and 60 arrays using FAT32, EXT4, NTFS, ZFS, BTFRS and XFS file systems. The software (Windows only – 11, 10, 8 & 7) doesn't need a RAID controller card to recover missing data and works with both hardware and software RAID arrays. It can also restore RAID data even if the Windows system fails to boot via an easy-to-make bootable recovery USB drive.

The software can retrieve data from a number of scenarios where RAID arrays fail with the potential of complete data loss. These include:-

Deleted or lost RAID Data
Recover data from logically corrupt, inaccessible, crashed, or failed RAID arrays due to accidental data loss, corrupted file systems, malware or power outages.

Incorrect RAID array rebuilds
If a RAID array rebuild fails due to mistakes during setup, including the wrong configuration being used, wrong stripe size or installing the discs in the wrong order, the data can be recovered.

RAID error messages
Retrieve data from inaccessible volumes and disks that produce read/write errors while accessing data.

SSD Raid arrays
Recover data from logically corrupted, formatted or deleted SSD RAID drives.

Formatted RAID array Recovery
Technician automatically rebuilds a virtual RAID array to recover data from a formatted array.

RAID partitions
The software can recover data from failed, deleted, undetected or corrupted RAID partitions.

NAS
Technician can also be used to recover data from corrupted or inaccessible RAID 0, 5 or 6-based NAS servers. The data retrieval process in this instance is a bit more complicated than the usual method as the disks have to be removed from the NAS and all of them connected to a PC at the same time.

Data Recovery Technician supports Iomega StorCenter, Buffalo Terrastation, LinkStation, Synology, LaCie, QNAP and other Linux-based NAS devices supporting FAT32, EXT4, NTFS, ZFS, BTFRS and XFS file formats.
