Kingston has swiftly risen to popularity in the gaming headset market with its Cloud series and it is easy to tell why. The HyperX Cloud, Cloud II and now CloudX all use the same simple design. There are no ‘in your face' gamer effects, instead you get an elegant pair of headphones with solid construction and decent sound quality.

The console-oriented CloudX doesn't come with 7.1 virtual surround like the PC-oriented Cloud II headset. However, I found stereo performance to be excellent and audio quality while gaming to be fantastic. If you are using these headphones for things like music and movies, then you will find that the drivers are capable of pushing a good amount of volume and frequencies are well balanced, leading to a thumpy bass response that doesn't muddy up mid and high tones.

As for microphone quality, the CloudX ranks highly, your voice will come across clear both on Xbox One and through PC VOIP applications like Discord or Skype. However, Xbox One's inbuilt audio solution does make the microphone a tad over sensitive, so you may want to move the mic further away from your mouth while gaming.
