Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless 7.1 Gaming Headset Review

Corsair have set out to provide a wireless headset that was ultimately aimed at the gaming market, but in doing so, have been successful in creating a versatile product that delivers exceptional sound quality across the board. The Vengeance 2000 is well suited for music playback, movie soundtracks and excels with games by creating an immersive 3D experience.

At around £120 in the United Kingdom, it is certainly targeting the serious enthusiast gamer. To be fair to Corsair, adding in the wireless technology does add to the cost of development and production.

One thing to be cautious about is the length of the cabling. Currently, my PC is housed in a Corsair 800D chassis which is located to the right of my table.

As I wanted to use the headset whilst simultaneously charging it, I found myself using the WIFI dongle dock as a USB extension, as the charging cable alone wasn’t sufficiently long enough to reach the headset when plugged into a rear USB port. Of course, this won't be a problem if you have a spare, front mounted USB port.

Ultimately, the Vengeance 2000 is a fantastic performing headphone, targeting a niche audience. It is certainly a high end product and as such won't be targeting the mainstream gamer who would be unwilling to spend more than £50 on a headset.

Overclockers have a special deal on the Vengeance 2000 headphone this week, at £103.46 inc vat.

Pros:

  • balanced sound quality.
  • fantastic appearance.
  • well built.

Cons:

  • Expensive.

  1. Nice looking headset, but its quite expensive. Its about half the price of pure audiophile headphones, which might prove a problem for Corsair.

  2. Its a lot of cash, but if you value wireless then its a good deal. Corsair release quality products. I bought one of their cases recently and I love it.

  3. How do they compare to the Vengeance 1500?
or they are virtually the same, except that the 2000 is wireless?

  4. Very nice review, but what I’m missing is the review of the actual surround sound quality. How is the 7.1 virtual surround sound on the headset? I understand the sound quality is good, but from what I’ve read you only tested it in stereo settings.

Are you able to distinguish where the sound is coming from, i.e. directional sound like left rear, right rear, left front, right front etc.
Hope you can answer this for me before buying!
