SteelSeries 5H V2 Medal of Honor Gaming Headset Review

We were impressed by the performance of the SteelSeries 5H V2 as it proved to be very capable in our gaming tests.  We do feel that those who take their gaming seriously should consider the USB version which features 7.1 virtual surround sound.  Those looking for a good all-round headset, not just one for gaming, should probably consider the SteelSeries Siberia V2 instead, though, as it better suited.  It is also more comfortable to wear and is significantly more exciting to look at.

The SteelSeries 5H V2 has some other great features that are worth mentioning.  Firstly, the build quality is top-notch and the headset can be twisted and bent without being damaged.  Secondly, the headset splits up into three separate pieces, making it ideal for taking to LAN events like i43.

At a price of about £55 at Scan, the SteelSeries 5H V2 offers good value but we feel that the USB version offers better value for money as it only costs £58 at Scan and it includes a USB sound card that enables 7.1 surround sound.  At a price of £60 at Scan, the SteelSeries Siberia V2 is also a good option for those who want a headset that is great all round, not just for gaming.

Pros:

  • Good in-game performance
  • Top-notch build quality
  • Retractable microphone
  • Braided cable

Cons:

  • USB version is a better buy
  • Siberia V2 is more comfortable

KitGuru says: An impressive headset but the USB version is a much better buy.

  1. Seems like a nice idea, but I didnt think this game was popular anymore? I guess maybe for clan gamers it might be.

  2. Almost everything Steelseries do, is to target hardcore gamers. this is a clan headset basically IMO.

  3. Looks really good I think. I already have the siberia and love it to death.

  4. Funny that I was totally dissatisfied with the pair I bought. I have yet to see anything so cheaply built. I didn’t want to keep them for any length of time & have a broken piece of trash w/ no warranty. Went right back & I was out a restocking fee.
