Asus Transformer Pad TF300T Android Tablet Review

Perhaps the most interesting feature of the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T is the included docking station that effectively turns it into a laptop.

Measuring 263 x 180.8 x 10.4 mm and weighing 546g, the laptop dock adds quite a significant amount of bulk to the tablet when it’s attached.  However, we must consider that it houses a supplementary battery as well as a keyboard and touchpad which can recharge the battery in the tablet.  The two batteries together provide a claimed 15 hours usage between charges.

The keyboard itself isn’t full size and is far from the best we’ve ever used as the keys are quite unresponsive and don't offer tactile feedback.  But it’s far easier to use than the on screen keyboard, especially when inputting a lot of text.

We don’t think that the touchpad is really necessary considering the touch screen, but is a nice feature nonetheless. During use, a cursor appears on the screen which we can use instead of the touch screen.

On the left hand edge of the dock there is a power and data connector which is identical to the one on the bottom edge of the tablet.  This is a proprietary connector so you can’t charge the tablet via micro-USB.

Moving around to the right hand side of the dock, we find a full size SD card reader and a single USB 2.0 port hidden behind a small plastic flap.

  1. great looking tablet computer. I love it. I have owned one now for a few months and cant be without it.

  2. Im not so keen on these, they are a botched job. people either want a tablet or a laptop, not both in this hybrid design. just my 2 cents
