We're delighted to be joined by Arctic marketing whizz Timothy Yun.
Our first question for Timothy is really obvious. Why?
“Arctic Cooling has been such a success in the market because we listened to the audience and made low cost coolers that work”, said Yun. “With each generation, we would try to make improvements. Part of that process involved meeting with users, interviewing them and asking them what we could do better”.
“Over time, we added in some other questions, to understand what our customers do in their spare time”, continued Yun. “Analysing the results, we were really surprised how many people were into making models and, more importantly, remote controlled vehicles”.
OK, so there's an interest, but why take it to the next level and actually make something?
“The company's senior management teams were keen to take the Arctic brand into other markets. Remote controlled vehicles use motors and controls in a way we understand really well”, said Yun. “From turning a fan to turning the wheel on a tank is not such a big step!”
Any engineering team will have a few ‘toy lovers' hiding in the lab, so how much experience did Arctic need to being in?
Yun smiles, “Yes, we had in-house enthusiasts! We also hired specialist engineers to help with the design and development. Almost immediately, we noticed that key areas of the manufacturing process would need to happen elsewhere. It was time to find other toy lovers in mainland China!”
We noticed that Timothy seemed to be talking in plurals. Vehicles. So how many different models are we talking about exactly?
“The whole series are called Land Riders and we started with a Tank, Fire Engine, Mining Truck and Excavator”, said Yun. “But the team is ambitious and we have already started designs for a Buggy, Racing Car, Truck and Truggy”.
Another glint in Yun's eye, “We also have a design for a Truggy”. For the uninitiated, this is the kind of hybrid that every Guru would like to go thundering around the terrain in. Truck + Buggy = Truggy. Simples.
.
Really cool idea to branch out into this, a lot of geeks love their tanks and vehicles. robot wars !
wicked, the tank looks great, are they available worldwide now? I alwaysh ave problems getting AC products here 🙁
The bird looks brilliant, although I would guess it could be easily broken if you were careless.
Unusual company move, but its fun, so its hard to be negative.
The tank rocks ! any time these will be available in the UK? dont see them anywhere.
I wouldnt mind the tank, looks like a blast at the weekend down a back road or country path.
That bird ideal is great, it seems extremely flexible in the movement pattern too. Can we see a video of it when available?
