MSI warns of imposter Afterburner site spreading malware

MSI is issuing a security warning this week, as a malicious website impersonating MSI's official web page has been found spreading malware.

The website “afterburner-msi(dot)space”, is a fake Afterburner page, claiming to offer downloads of the MSI Afterburner GPU monitoring and overclocking application. The impersonating web page has no relation with MSI and contains malware, so absolutely do not visit the web page or download any software from there.

The official MSI Afterburner website is not compromised and continues to be safe to use. However, the Afterburner Software download link is currently closed due to routine maintenance.

MSI is currently taking the “necessary actions to remove the malicious imposter website”. You can find the official MSI Afterburner page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Always keep an eye out for dodgy looking links when trying to download software. Hopefully the malicious website will be taken down soon.
