Lenovo is working on a SteamOS handheld

By now, you should know that Lenovo is updating its lineup of gaming handhelds. There are a few models expected, but so far, only two have been pictured. The first is the Legion Go S, which is expected to be the entry-level model. The other one that was pictured is likely the successor to the original Go.

The Legion Go S, previously rumored to be a more affordable entry in the Legion Go lineup, is expected to feature the AMD Ryzen Z2G APU with Zen 3+ CPU cores and Radeon 680M integrated graphics. Moreover, it's believed it will pack 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory and an 8-inch IPS display with a 1920×1200 resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Leaked images shared by Evan Blass (via The Verge) show the device in both black and white color schemes, but more importantly, a dedicated Steam button similar to the one found on the Steam Deck. This hints at potential SteamOS support or deeper Steam integration, although the exact functionality remains unclear.

Alongside the Go S, Lenovo is also reportedly launching the Legion Go 2, a direct successor to the current Legion Go. This flagship handheld is expected to feature a more powerful APU, potentially the rumoured Ryzen Z2 Extreme, featuring a Zen 5-based CPU and an RDNA 3.5-based iGPU. In addition, Evan Blass (via The Verge) also stated that the upcoming handheld will have an OLED display, offering deeper blacks, more vibrant colors, and improved contrast over the original's IPS display.

The Legion Go 2 is expected to retain the detachable controllers and FPS mode of its predecessor, but leaked images show a more ergonomic design with rounded controller edges for improved grip and comfort. There's no mention of SteamOS support or a dedicated Steam button, suggesting that the Legion Go 2 will stick with Windows as its operating system.
