Samsung refreshes soundbar lineup with new Dolby Atmos models

Not everyone has the right room layout or space for a full 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound setup in the living room. Instead, many of us turn to soundbars as an alternative. This week, Samsung is adding two new soundbar models to its lineup- the HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T.

The HW-Q950T delivers 9.1.4-channel audio, which is the upper limit of channels available in a single soundbar. This model also comes with two wireless rear speakers for more convincing surround sound. The HW-Q900T does not include the rear speakers, but does include a subwoofer. Both sound bars support Dolby Atmos and eARC, all while shaving down the physical size of the sound bar, which is almost 14mm slimmer than the 2019 equivalent.

“In collaboration with Audio Lab in the US, we have been able to develop multi-dimensional surround sound that can be more accessible at home, which was previously only possible with a separate home-theater system,” said Senior VP, Seong Cho, in a press release. “In addition to improving sound quality, we also focused on fine-tuning the soundbar’s design aesthetic by using eco-friendly textiles, made by Danish premium brand Kvadrat.”

Both new soundbars also include support for the Samsung SmartThings app and Amazon Alexa voice commands. Pricing and availability information has yet to be confirmed though.
