Don't want to go with a small chassis? Need plenty of room for expansion? Then you will be looking at an ATX format case.
Nothing rotates top spot, based on ‘look and feel' faster than cases. They are the fashion barometer for the world of modern technology, with ATX still being the format of choice for most serious enthusiasts.
While we would love to say that there is huge variety in shape and colour, the very best chassis in this area tend to focus more on functionality. A top design engineer at Lian-Li once told us that out of every 10 chassis sold, at least 7 would be black, with 1 or 2 in a colour like silver or white while the last unit might be an ‘unusual' colour, like red or blue.
So with KitGuru telling you, up front, that most people choose black and we prefer function over form, you can probably guess what the short list for this award looked like.
When KitGuru Labs reviewed the Fractal Design Arc XL, we concluded that “If you yearn for a larger chassis design, then the ARC XL does deserve some serious consideration. Retailing for £100 inc vat, the Fractal Design Arc XL is a fantastic full tower case for those who want an understated, sleek design without compromising on functionality”.
When the ‘Plus' list includes excellent build quality and cooling performance alongside clever cable management you know you are on to a winner. The nastiest thing we could find to say was that the side window might collect dust.
