In a press release, Lenovo has announced that it will be bringing high-end workstation performance to those on a budget.
The ThinkStation E32 will be available with Intel Xeon® E3 and 4th generation Intel Core i7 and Core i5 processors, a choice of Nvidia Quadro GPU's and support for up to 32GB DDR3 memory. Some systems in the range will also ship with a 60-day trial of AutoCAD LT pre-installed.
Perhaps most exciting is the announcement that Lenovo will also make these systems available in Small Form Factor (SFF) PC's, although this does limit the choice of GPU up to the K600 as opposed to the K4000 for towers. This should make Lenovo a very attractive option for designers, architects and other industry professionals who do not necessarily have the space for another full tower under or on their desk.
Although UK pricing is not yet available, Lenovo has stated pricing for the E32 will start at approximately $729. The low pricing also opens up options for small and medium businesses to create low-cost, high-performance clusters.
The Lenovo ThinkStation E32 tower and SFF models will be available from September 6th. Core i3 and Core i5 models will follow later and are expected to become available in the UK and Ireland mid October.
KitGuru says: Many professionals picked up a GTX 580 when it became available for its impressive compute performance. However, if Lenovo manages to keep the prices low across the board it may be the perfect time for many professionals to pick up a dedicated workstation.
