Synthetic Memory Test: AIDA64

Testing and Performance Memory Overview

AIDA64 demonstrates the point perfectly. Threadripper Pro has eight channels of DDR4 bandwidth to work with, and has the potential to deliver monumental performance in appropriate workloads. Unfortunately our test system was delivered with DDR4-2666MHz running at CL21.

ECC memory often has poor timings but an upgrade to DDR4-3200MHz CL22 would improve bandwidth and latency by some 20 percent and would also help AMD's Infinity Fabric at the same time. The extra cost would be around £600 however we consider this a price well worth paying.
